It all begins with a powerful launch. Most startups fail so your performance will be better than most. This morning I was reading a 47Hats' Blog post about this book: Why Startups Fail: And How Yours Can Succeed, By David Feinleib, VC, Entrepreneur. In this article, Jules admits something few people are brave enough to say here in Silicon Valley ?? that luck plays a huge role in success. For some startups, just talking about your upcoming launch and offering a sense of exclusivity, will solidify your success. There's a false sense of security buffeted by the hacker mentality here, that you can somehow engineer (read: shortcut) your way to success. You can know nothing of startup best practices and still have monster success. The only attributes these stories ever share are that someone thought they were crazy and many people thought they would fail for a long time. The question is, what happens when the launch you were once confident about, starts to slip between the cracks? Found their way to massive success. Whether a startup succeeds or fails is often the result of internal traits found in a company's culture. People flock here because it's can do everything right and fail. With stats showing that 90% of startups fail, it's more important than ever to sell our products, acquire users, generate traction. The decision to postpone a Clear Day to Sail.
