It is usually much more desirable to have a linear transfer function, but is there any reason why your function must be linear? The circuit that my friend used, is shown in the figure, which was taken from the datasheet of the force sensor, above. Right off the bat, I saw an immediate problem with the circuit: the circuit's output will be non-linear. Instead, when a signal passes through a nonlinear circuit, even the purest of the sinusoids at its input is transformed into an output signal with different frequency components 'born within the non-linear circuit'.
