I'm not sure when or where I came across this novel but, since I had seen the movie once and liked it and this book had a fabulous cover, I decided to pick up Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis. "Life is banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" ~Rosalind Russell as Auntie Mame. Fill up the stocking, I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now. It's episodic, which is my favorite way a book can be, and there's so much detail in a non-hideously boring way. Last Saturday night I drove to the southeast side of Indianapolis to the Buck Creek Playhouse to see the Buck Creek Players' production of ???Auntie Mame.??? It was written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. This was my favorite Christmas song long before I realized it was from Mame: Mame: Haul out the holly; Put up the tree before my spirit falls again. I just got off the phone with my mother. To anyone that has read this blog right along all year, you are aware that ???Auntie Mame??? is one of my favorite movies. Auntie Mame was 1958???s top grossing film, and it's hard to imagine a similar movie achieving such a feat today (we can always hope for an explosion-riddled remake by Michael Bay). I want to be Auntie Mame and to crack the world open for myself and for those I love. Dobbs plays Emma as more of a hurricane than a spring shower, a babelicious Auntie Mame. Take the family to a Christmas performance in the park (in both English and Spanish) or a screening of the classic Auntie Mame. I don't like being put in a pigeon hole.
